This was originally going to be two hauls - hence the different backgrounds - but I figured it was easier just to pop them both together! I received quite a few offers on the makeup products but can't quite remember them all, I do remember that the Models Own nail polishes were buy one get one half price though which is a fab deal! Boots also have an offer where you receive 10 points for every pound if you spend over £15, meaning that on a shop that cost £22something I got 220 points, how great is that?!

Tag: How much is your face worth?

I've seen this post done quite a bit but was always a bit meh about it, but then I saw that Louise at Sprinkle Of Glitter had done it so I took a look. Hers definitely shocked me and so now I'm interested to know how much mine will be. I don't use really high end, luxurious products like MAC but still, makeup is pretty expensive!

Apologies for the kinda scary photo, lighting+face+hair+everything=disaster today!

Maybelline Colour Sensational Lipstick (Sweet Pink) - £7.19

Total: £97.95!

I knew it was going to come to quite a bit, but honestly, I didn't expect it to be that high. Obviously I'm not using the whole product at that one time and they last me ages, but still, that's a lot of money to be carrying around on your face!

I hope that some of you will do this tag, it really is quite interesting to find out just how much all of your makeup adds up to. I now know why I always hate it when everything runs out at once!!

If you do this please leave a link in the comments, being the nosey parker that I am, I would love to know how much yours comes to!

A little update for you all..

Apologies for not blogging over the weekend, it's been quite hectic! I worked a 13 hour shift on Saturday & then my boyfriend stayed over that night. Sunday was my dad's birthday and we had the majority of his side of the family over for a bbq - luckily there was good weather! My boyfriend stayed over again Sunday night and then we both had to get up quite early (well, 8:30, but still, it's a bank holiday!) for work this morning so I simply haven't had the time to write, but here I am now & I have quite a lot planned for my blog over the next few weeks/months.

Firstly, I'd like to say a massive thank you to my new followers. I logged onto Blogger earlier this evening when I got home from work and had a bunch of new lovely people following my blog! I can't even begin to tell you how grateful I am!!

Another thank you goes to Lydia at All Of Her Yesterdays. Those of you who follow her blog (if you don't you're mad, get on over there!) may well know that she was holding a giveaway. Well, on Saturday I went up for my lunch break at work and had a message on Twitter telling me that I had won! I'm so excited to receive my package from her and will definitely write a blog post on it when I get it. Thank you again Lydia!

Speaking of followers and giveaways, I think that when I reach some form of milestone follower number I may hold one. It probably won't be huge but still, anything's something right? I don't know how many followers I will wait for but it'll probably be about 100, 150, something like that. If you have any ideas for prizes or anything please leave them below.

I also have quite a few posts planned for the next few weeks, but as per usual any requests are welcome, obviously I won't do all of them as sometimes things just aren't practical or to my liking, but I will try to do any posts that are suggested. If you do have any ideas either write them in the comments below, email me at petticoatscontact@yahoo.co.uk or tweet me @aimeemoncur

So that's all really. Thank you all again for the support that I've had and I hope you continue to enjoy my blog :)

Tidy space, tidy mind

I don't know about any of you, but I'm one of those people who live by the title of this post, tidy space, tidy mind. I find that when things around me are tidy and organised, I can think much better. Now, if you were to ask my parents, they would definitely say that I'm not a tidy person - they are wrong. I love being tidy and honestly, I have some form of OCD when it comes to organisation. The thing is is that I simply don't have the time to keep everything spic-and-span.

My whole life is spent doing something - weekdays I'm out of the house from 7:30am until 5pm at school, I often work a few evenings during the week, Saturdays I work most of the day & will more often than not spend the night at my boyfriend's house along with the majority of Sundays. Add things such as homework, driving lessons, meals and household chores into the mix and I am home, awake and not busy for about 7/8 hours a week, which if you think about it, is nothing at all! This is why I things aren't always tidy.

I do, however, love things to be tidy, and I really do enjoy doing the tidying (I know, freak or what?!). I have decided that from now on I am going to take just a little bit of time every couple of days to keep things organised. Just little things like de-cluttering my bedside table or my desk, picking up the few clothes that may have 'accidentally' missed the laundry basket, things like that. I think that by doing things like that I will be able to keep both my environment and my mind clear, helping me to focus on other things in life such as school, work and relationships.

I know that this post has probably sounded super cliche, but it's true for me. What do you do to keep your life more organised?

Pins galore

I know I'm a bit late jumping on this bandwagon but I've just started on Pinterest. I made an account a while ago but honestly, I didn't get it. I didn't really see the point as in my mind it was kind of like Tumblr, however yesterday I was browsing the Play Store on my phone and the app popped up so I was like, 'hey, I might as well give it a proper try' and I have. I logged onto my account this evening and have gone a bit pin-crazy! I'm still trying to work it out but I have quite a few boards.

I like the simplistic approach to things so have designed my boards around that, with names such as 'Eat' and 'Wear'.

If you'd like to take a look at what I've been 'pinning' then either click here or on the big red P in the sidebar. Also, please leave me your links below, I'd love to see them!

Motel Rocks Street Teamer!

Another quick post for you all today to let you know that I have become a member of the Motel Rocks Street Team!

What does this mean I hear you say? Well, being a part of the team means that you help promote the brand through various things. Each member is given a discount code to share with friends/family/anyone really. My discount code is petticoatsandpansies & if you enter it at the checkout you will receive 20% off your order! We can promote the brand on our blogs or in real life via posts, ads, flyers and word of mouth.

What do I get out of it? I'm not going to lie to you, being a part of the Street Team does have some benefits for me, including goody bags and rewards in the form of 10% commission (given as credit on my Motel Rocks account) for each order made using my discount code.

What do I do as a Street Teamer? As I've said above, the main job of a Street Teamer is to promote the brand in new, creative ways. The lovely lady in charge of the Street Team sometimes sets us 'tasks' to complete, for example at the moment there is a festival challenge.

How will this affect my blog? Hopefully not too much, at the moment the only thing that is different is that in the sidebar there is an ad for Motel Rocks which includes my discount code & then there's this post. I doubt it will affect my blog too much, I will obviously tell you about any offers or anything but I'm most definitely not going to make my blog all Motel as that's not what I created my blog for.

I really would recommend that you check out Motel's website, they have pieces to appeal to every taste and with the 20% off the clothes are very affordable!

I thought I'd share with you a few things that are on my wishlist to give you a taster of what they have to offer.

A quick thank you..

Just a short & sweet post to let you know how grateful I am to all of you who read my blog. Without you all it wouldn't be anywhere near as fun as I'd have no one to talk to & would probably have given up by now. I can't describe how happy I am when that little envelope pops up on my phone with a new email alerting me to a new comment on one of my posts & when I log on to see that I have a new follower - it's simply amazing.

I know that blogging isn't about how many views you have or how many people follow your blog but just to know that there actually are people out there reading what I write & enjoying it enough to comment & want to read more is the best feeling in the world.

Hopefully when I reach some sort of 'landmark' of followers I will do some sort of celebration, possibly a giveaway or something, I don't know, but just something to let you all know that I truly do appreciate all of the support & that you are all wonderful.

So thank you so much, I love you all & I hope you enjoy reading my blog for a long time coming - I don't plan on leaving any time soon!

Review: Maybelleine The Falsies mascara

I've been using this mascara for about a week now & I absolutely love it! As you can see the packaging is so cute - a gorgeous deep pink with a black lace design, making it stand out in your makeup bag.

The wand is curved and the packaging tells you to use the concave part to apply the mascara which works well on the upper lashes, however I find that to apply to my lower lashes and the lashes on the inner corner of my eyes the tip and the convex part work much better as if I were to use it the suggested way on the lower lash line I would end up with mascara all over my skin which isn't really the look I'm going for..

The actual product is superb, the consistency is quite wet which I know some people aren't too keen on, but for me it is great. As it is a wet formula I find that you can keep going over it until you get your desired look without making it clumpy.

The mascara really does live up to its name and gives you the look of false lashes. Obviously subtle false ones as no mascara could give you super sparkly ott lashes now could it? I normally go for volume in a mascara but have recently gotten back into wearing liquid eyeliner on my eyes and like to have long looking lashes for that look as otherwise it tends to look like I have none...

If I had to rate this I'd probably give it 9/10 as it gives amazing length and keeps the length of the lashes all day! Despite only having been using it for about a week I have absolutely fallen in love with this mascara and it's my new favourite! I would have given it a 10 if it weren't for the fact that by the end of the day there are sometimes little flakes under my eyes, this could, however, be my fault as I quite often touch my eyes and stuff.

Have you used this product? What's your favourite mascara?

Body Shop haul & review

If you read my last post you will know that I came across a pretty good deal recently on the Body Shop website - if you didn't see it I recommend checking the post out as the offer mentioned is still going! My goodies arrived on Friday morning and I'm super duper chuffed with them!!

I'd like to mention the fact that I am so happy with the service given, I placed my order on Tuesday evening and when given the two delivery options (£2.99 for standard or £4.99 for express) I chose standard as a) I'm rather poor this month & b) I really don't mind waiting an extra few days for my parcel to be delivered. I'd definitely say that unless you need your order super speedily then just go for standard. I received an email on Thursday evening telling me that my order had been dispatched and then hey presto, five minutes before I left for work the post man came a knocking and there's my big brown box of treasures! Bearing in mind that the email said to allow 5 working days for delivery I think that was amazing. Anyways, you probably don't care an ounce about the journey of my delivery so on with the haul!!

The products came in a box (as you'd expect with a delivery, duh!) and when I opened it they were in two separate brown paper Body Shop bags sealed with little stickers. I quickly delved in and opened up the products and oh gosh, what gorgeous smells hit me. That's one thing I love about the Body Shop, their products just smell so good!! The products I got were the Tea Tree Skin Clearing Facial Wash, Tea Tree Blackhead Exfoliating Was, Tea Tree Face Mask, Mango Body Butter & Rain forest Moisture Shampoo (travel size). I haven't had the chance to use all of them yet but will give you my 'first impressions' of them all.

Firstly is the cleanser. It's just like any other cleanser really but has a quite strong tea tree smell. It rubs in nicely on your skin and does leave you feeling squeaky clean. I haven't used it to take makeup off yet but I can imagine it should work well for that. You only need the smallest amount so I can see that it will last a really long time.

The exfoliating wash again has the same smell which is actually surprisingly pleasant. The product is quite creamy and the beads are small and don't scratch at your face like some cleansers seem to do. It works great if you use it in the morning before applying makeup as it refreshes the face without being abrasive and leaving red marks!

The mask has the same scent as the previous items (what a surprise?) and from dabbing my finger in it too feels quite creamy and smooth, not as though it will leave your face feeling more clogged up post use than it did before! Again, quite a lot of product in the tub so it will hopefully last a long time!

The body butter is absolutely gorgeous, the smell is just so lush!! I keep opening it & sniffing as it's so delicious. It's a really strong scent but smells light and fruity at the same time if that's possible? Probably not but that's what it's like to me! I know that it will be really moisturising too as I have been using the coconut one for years and my legs will stay smooth for ages after using it! Also, some very sensible advice from my boyfriend: 'don't eat it!' - he did this once with one of his mum's apparently because it smelt nice...

Finally is the shampoo. This was just a freebie that they offered me at the virtual checkout so I thought, 'what the heck, might as well!' I'm probably just going to keep it in my drawer along with a load of other shampoo travel sizes and testers that I have as they're so handy to chuck in  your gym bag. It's for dry hair which is why I chose it as because my hair is so long I have to blow dry it for an age, meaning it gets quite dry so every moisturising product I can get it a lifesaver for me! It smells so beautiful but upon smelling it I just couldn't pinpoint what the scent was, but I just had the sense to actually read the label and it's pracaxi oil, manketti oil & honey & I now know that it's the honey that gives it its gorgeous scent.

(Clockwise from top) Tea Tree Blackhead Exfoliating Wash, Tea Tree Face Mask, Mango Body Butter.

I'm pretty happy with my haul & cannot wait to use all of the products more and more! Thanks to the offers it only came in at £16.50, such a super bargain!!

A quick bargain for you all..

Just a short post to let you know that The Body Shop is having an amazing offer on their website at the moment.

I popped over there to check the prices of a few things I was planning to pick up instore tomorrow and was greeted on the homepage by a fantabulous offer: £15 off when you spend £30 or more!!

That definitely swayed me to ordering it online, I'd rather save myself £15 and wait an extra day or two!

Also, when I proceeded to the checkout a banner flashed across the top of the screen: Free gift when you spend £5! Blimey Body Shop, you really are spoiling us. The free gift is a 60ml travel sized hair product of which you have a range of 7 shampoos and conditioners to choose from!

Using these offers meant my order only came to £16.50 + £2.99 p&p, how amazing is that?!

I thought I'd let you know about this offer as everyone loves a bargain and I'm not sure how long this offer is on for so if you love The Body Shop, head over to their website now!

Just in case you're interested I ordered the following products:
Mango Body Butter (200ml) £12.50
Tea Tree Face Mask (100ml) £9.00
Tea Tree Facial Wash (250ml) £4.50
Tea Tree Blackhead Exfoliating Wash (100ml) £5.50
Rainforest Moisture Shampoo (60ml) £2.00 - this was the free item

So from that you can see just how much of a bargain I got, in reality I only really paid for the Body Butter and the Facial Wash!

Happy bargain shopping :)

Liebster Blog Award!

I was tagged my the lovely Becky at Beauty Becky in her Liebster Blog Award post which was so great of her and reassured me that people do actually read and enjoy my blog which is a great thought!

Honestly, I had never heard of this before I was tagged but I've come to realise that it's such a great idea. The awards celebrate new/small blogs (less than 200 followers) and can help them to become known to a wider range of people, helping to boost pageviews, followers, etc.

The rules are:

1) Each person must post 11 things about themselves.
2) Answer the questions the tagger has set for you, plus create 11 questions to be answered by those you have tagged.
3) Choose 11 bloggers and link them in your post.
4) Go on their page and tell them you have tagged them in the awards.
5) Remember, no tag-backs!

11 things about me:

1) I'm the middle child of 5, with two younger sisters and two older half-brothers.
2) I'm extremely organised.
3) I get emotional over the slightest thing.
4) I'm an aunt with two nephews and two nieces.
5) I love nothing better than spending time with those who mean the most to me.
6) I'm currently in my longest relationship - 7 months and still going strong :).
7) I make lists for just about everything.
8) I complain a lot.
9) I'm extremely OCD about my eyebrows.
10) I hate people with bad manners.
11) I love cute things, especially home made, my room is full of things!

Questions from Beauty Becky:

1) Why did you start blogging?
I've always loved writing and after reading blogs for a long time decided to give it a go myself. I felt it was a great way to express myself and the things I'm interested and it's so easy to communicate with people and meet others.

2) What is your favourite haircare brand and why?
Honestly, I don't really use much on my hair other than shampoo, conditioner and hairspray, so I suppose I'll just say those, I use Herbal Essences Beautiful Ends shampoo & conditioner and then the L'Oreal Elnett hairspray. Oh, Batiste dry shampoo is like my saviour!!!

3) Do you prefer long or short hair on yourself?
I love having long hair (mine goes to about my waist) however I have in the past had really short hair (think Victoria Beckham here) and I did like it and someday may go back to that, at the moment I'm just too scared!

4) What is your favourite nail polish colour?
Barry M Coral is a beautiful colour.

5) Tinted moisturiser or foundation and why?
Foundation as I'm quite conscious about my skin so like having the extra coverage.

6) Where would you like to live if you could live anywhere in the world?
I think I'd stay in England. Despite the weather I do love it here and I seem to find faults with everywhere else, for example bugs, ew!

7) High end or drugstore/high street makeup?
Drugstore for sure. Being on a part timer's budget I can in no way afford high end products, as much as I would love to have bucket loads of Mac!

8) If you could have any hair colour, which colour would you choose?
I'd love to be able to pull off being blonde, but a natural blonde, not a yellowy one.

9) How long ago did you start your blog?
I've had my blog since May 2012, so not long at all really!

10) How long have you been reading beauty blogs?
I've been reading beauty blogs for a couple of years, but only really got properly into them the past year or so.

11) Would you rather create your own fashion line or makeup brand?
Fashion line as you can be much more creative!

11 questions for those I've tagged:

1) What's your favourite colour?
2) What would your dream job be?
3) What made you decide to start a blog?
4) What is your favourite genre of blog?
5) If you could travel the world, where would you go?
6) What would you buy if you were to win the lottery?
7) Do you believe in things such as luck and fate? If so, why?
8) Fake tan or real tan?
9) What's one thing that you will never leave the house without?
10) Do you play any sports? If so, which?
11) Heels or flats?

I tag:

Jazz's World
Belle-amie
With Kitty in Mind
katblogsyeah
Knockout Couture
it's time for a story
Pampered pout
Musings of the blonde
All Of Her Yesterdays
Something Special To Say
All things bright & beautiful

I realised whilst doing this that I don't actually follow that many smaller blogs, meaning that I had to go out and find new blogs that I wanted to follow. It was great as I've found some of the ones above just today & I absolutely love them!! I may have only just started following them but I would definitely recommend that you check out their blogs and follow them too, they're wonderful!

Review: HD Brows Eye & Brow Palette

If you read my July favourites post then you may well be aware that I've been using my new HD Brows palette recently and I've been absolutely loving it!
I received the palette in my July GlossyBox and mine is in Foxy, which is clearly aimed at girls with darker hair colours, therefore is perfect for me! It comes in simple yet gorgeous packaging, the design being sleek and sophisticated in the all-black, glossy case with white lettering. The packaging definitely gives it that 'up-market' feel and just reeks of glamour!

Inside are four shades; nude, warm brown, dark brown and carbon. These shades make the palette suitable to a range of people as they go from almost black to a much lighter brown. The nude shade is perfect to use as a highlight under the brow as well as to run around the edges to cover up any slight mistakes rather than slathering on the concealer!

For me the carbon shade is much, much too dark so I keep well away from that. I've found that the perfect colour for me is a mix of the two medium shades - warm and dark brown - however neither are too light or dark for me to use them individually. I tend to change what I use depending on my mood & what makeup I'm wearing that day, for example today I'm only wearing mascara on my eyes so I've gone for the dark brown on my brows, whereas if I were wearing a lot of eye makeup I would go for the lighter shade to balance everything out.

The brush that comes with the palette is surprisingly good. I never normally use the brushes given as they aren't always very good quality, however this one exceeds expectations. The bristles on the angled brush are solid enough that you can achieve a very defined look first time without having to go back and make corrections. Also the brush is thin enough to go all the way to the tips of your brows without them staying thick, giving a very feminine look. The rounded brush is slightly more flexible which works great when you're applying the highlight as you don't want it to be quite as precise.

(L-R) Warm Brown, Dark Brown, Carbon.
(Nude is just so nude that it wouldn't show up in the swatches, sorry!)

Another great thing about the colours is that they can also be used as eyeshadows, giving a great look if you'd rather have a matte finish to your eyes. When used on the eyes they blend superbly and last all day (even without primer!). I'd recommend using the three lighter shades as eyeshadow and then if you wanted to then use carbon as a liner along the upper lash line.

(T-B) Warm Brown, Dark Brown, Carbon.
(Nude is just so nude that it wouldn't show up in the swatches, sorry!)

Overall, I've really enjoyed using this palette and would definitely recommend it to all brunettes. If you have different hair colours then they also do the palette in Vamp & Bombshell. Each palette can be found here for £19.96, a little pricey but in my eyes it's definitely worth it!
Have you ever used any HD Brows products? If so what were they and would you recommend them?

Disclaimer: I am in no way affiliated with HD Brows and they have not asked me to review this product. I am purely reviewing it because I've enjoyed using the products and am receiving no money or rewards/benefits for writing this review.
